Sandro Del Rosario

Del Rosario is an Italian-born designer, animator, and interdisciplinary artist who creates new ways to animate photography, paintings, and mixed media images. His films and installations are inspired by memories of feelings and places, distilled through a labor-intensive process that transforms still images, photo cutouts, paintings, and collages into moving imaginary spaces.

Del Rosario came to the United States as a Fulbright Scholar and has worked with youth and underserved communities while traveling extensively as a Visiting Artist and Visiting Professor across the country. His animations have been screened at festivals around the globe, at Annecy International Animation Festival, at the London Film Festival, and at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, among others, as well as in prestigious venues like the MoMa, the Lincoln Center in NYC, and the Centre Pompidou in France.

Del Rosario’s films won several awards, including the Kodak Award for Best Cinematography at the Siena International Film Festival, Best of Festival at the Richmond International Film Festival, the Platinum Remi Award at the Houston International Film Festival, and the Director’s Choice Award at the Thomas Edison Film Festival.
